If your XMAX V3 Pro is not working properly, the fault is often something simple: a blocked screen, dirty mouthpiece, low or ageing 18650 battery, poor airflow, incorrect mode selection or residue around the oven and filter assembly.
This XMAX V3 Pro maintenance and troubleshooting guide covers the routine checks worth doing before assuming the device itself has failed. It also links to the replacement parts we currently stock in Malta.
Quick rule: start with airflow, cleanliness and battery condition. Those three areas explain a large share of day-to-day V3 Pro problems.

Routine XMAX V3 Pro Maintenance
A little maintenance after regular use is easier than waiting for residue to harden inside the vapour path.
- Empty the oven once the device is cool.
- Brush loose material from the chamber.
- Inspect the mouthpiece and filter screen.
- Wipe the magnetic mouthpiece seating area if residue is visible.
- Keep the battery contacts dry and clean.
For a broader step-by-step cleaning method, use our dry herb vaporizer cleaning guide.
Cleaning the Oven and Mouthpiece
The V3 Pro uses a removable magnetic mouthpiece/filter assembly and a stainless-steel chamber. The current TopGreen manual permits a short isopropyl-alcohol soak for compatible removable pieces, while the oven itself is brushed and cleaned with an alcohol-dampened swab rather than submerged.
See the XMAX V3 Pro manual before soaking any component.
We currently stock the V3 Pro Filter Kit and Metal Screen and replacement mouthpiece top.
Screen and Airflow Problems
If the draw becomes tight, inspect the screen and ceramic airflow components before assuming the heater is weak.
Common causes of restricted airflow include:
- a coated or blocked metal screen;
- residue inside the mouthpiece;
- an overpacked oven;
- a dirty ceramic airflow box;
- a screen that has been bent or seated incorrectly.
If cleaning no longer restores airflow, replacement is usually easier. We currently stock the V3 Pro oven mesh screen pack and ceramic airflow box.
18650 Battery Checks
The XMAX V3 Pro uses a removable 18650 lithium-ion battery, which is one of the device’s practical advantages: an ageing cell can be replaced rather than making the whole vaporizer disposable.
Check the battery if the device:
- loses charge much faster than it used to;
- switches off under load;
- will not charge normally;
- shows visible wrap damage;
- becomes unusually hot.
Never use a swollen, torn or damaged cell. We stock the XMAX 18650 2900mAh replacement battery when available.
For general handling and travel advice, see our vaporizer battery care guide.
XMAX V3 Pro Not Turning On
If the V3 Pro does not power on, work through these checks in order:
- Confirm the 18650 battery is installed in the correct orientation.
- Charge the battery with the device’s approved charging method.
- Check the battery wrap and terminals for damage or dirt.
- Try a known-good compatible 18650 cell if you have one.
- Confirm you are using the correct power-button sequence from the manual.
If the device still does not respond with a known-good battery, stop troubleshooting and contact the retailer or manufacturer.
Device Heats but Produces Weak Vapour
If the display and heater appear normal but output is weak, the problem is usually loading, airflow, draw technique or temperature rather than electronics.
- Do not overpack the chamber.
- Check that the screen is not blocked.
- Use a slow, steady draw.
- Confirm the temperature is appropriate for the material.
- Clean the mouthpiece and vapour path.
On-Demand vs Session Mode Issues
The V3 Pro supports both Session Mode and On-Demand Mode. If the device seems to behave differently from expected, first confirm which mode is active.
Session Mode maintains heat for a timed session. On-Demand Mode is intended for individual draws and requires the relevant activation behaviour described in the manual. A user expecting one mode while the device is in the other can mistake normal behaviour for a fault.
Battery Lid and Contact Problems
A loose or damaged battery lid can interrupt contact or make the battery feel unstable inside the device. Inspect the lid and threading if power cuts in and out when the device is moved.
We currently stock the XMAX V3 Pro Battery Lid as a replacement part.
Replacement Parts Worth Keeping
For a frequently used V3 Pro, a small spare-parts kit can prevent unnecessary downtime:
- filter kit / metal screen;
- oven mesh screens;
- mouthpiece top;
- battery lid;
- compatible 18650 battery;
- dosing capsules if you use them.

XMAX V3 Pro Troubleshooting FAQ
Why is my XMAX V3 Pro airflow restricted?
The most common causes are a dirty screen, residue in the mouthpiece, an over-packed oven or a blocked airflow component.
Why does my V3 Pro turn off quickly?
Check the selected mode, session timer and battery condition. A worn 18650 cell can also cause unexpected shutdowns.
Can I replace the XMAX V3 Pro battery?
Yes. The V3 Pro uses a removable 18650 cell. Use a compatible battery in good condition and follow the device manufacturer’s specifications.
Can I soak the whole V3 Pro mouthpiece in alcohol?
Only the parts permitted by the manufacturer. Follow the current manual and remove any components that should not be soaked.
When should I stop troubleshooting and seek support?
Stop if the battery is damaged, the device repeatedly overheats, the charging port is damaged or a known-good battery does not restore normal operation.
